Dovetail Studios is positioned at the intersection of graphic design and moving images spanning print, web and all broadcast mediums. We join with a diverse range of clients and creative teams to provide pure and powerful imagery that speaks directly, inspires and satiates.

Dovetail was formed by New York based graphic designer Peter Belsky. As a founder of DV-8 magazine in the late eighties, Peter was drawn to magazine publishing as a means to explore the rich and diverse worlds of creativity in the New York City underground. His love of design then evolved into the creative trades, beginning at the agency Frankfurt Balkind and continuing on to work with Arnell Group, Trollback, among other large and small companies.

“Ultimately I aim to be style neutral, seeking to let the essential qualities of each project inform and fuel my design approach. The process of immersing into the needs and situations that each project presents is what I love about my craft. The collaboration that ensues inspires and drives the work forward. For me design is a continual practice, and refinement of these principles.”

Today Peter often collaborates with his wife, artist Tobie Giddio. Together they combine her rich interpretations of fashion, nature and beauty with motion to create new ways of seeing and utilizing illustration and animation.
